Service Above Self is a motto of Rotary.
On October 22, London and area clubs gathered to recognize both a club Rotarian and a community member who have demonstrated that motto.
London Lambeth Rotary nominated long time member Sheila Wilkes and community member Dean Clayworth for the John Eberhard Rotarian of Distinction Awards (JERODA).

Sheila Wilkes has been a relentless and an “energizer” leader for London Lambeth Rotary, Rotary District 6330, and other London and area organizations.

Dean Clayworth was recognized with a Paul Harris Fellowship by Club President Geoff Faul
for his incredible involvement in reviving Lambeth Harvestfest Festival after COVID as well as other contributions to Lambeth.

In Rotary Sheila has served 2 terms as President, set up outreach programs to the local community, was actively involved in our glasses program to Mexico (now Cuba), has been actively involved (virtually, when in warmer climates) in organizing our annual Christmas and spring fundraisers and in supporting new members. At the district level, she has held several member and chair committee positions, planned annual conferences, set up the district Rotary Learning Institute and much more.
She doesn’t stop with Rotary.
Sheila is also active as Chair of the non denominational London Community Chaplaincy (works with families and children in low cost family housing complexes) and the Lambeth United Church.
Sheila often mentions the advantage of a small club is there are more opportunities to be a Driver of the bus on projects.
Thanks Sheila for being the Driver on so many Rotary projects!

Harvestfest is a multi day festival held in September, now in it’s 45 year. It includes everything (and more) from ball tournaments, to dances, a parade, a talent show, antique car displays, card games, a Roast Beef Dinner and, of course, the Rotary Pancake Breakfast. Post COVID, its’ 40 some year history was on the line. Dean (and others) stepped up and took on the challenge and the festival is back, stronger then ever.
Part of Lambeth’s identity as a vibrant community is communicated through the four “Welcome to Lambeth” Gateway Signs that list local community organizations. They had deteriorated/been damaged over the years. London Lambeth Rotary co-ordinated the rework and in some cases replacement of the signs. Dean provided his trades expertise and woodworking skills to help make their return a reality.
Thanks, Dean, for being a great Friend of Rotary and Lambeth!

Many members (and their guests) of the Rotary Club of London Lambeth were out in force to recognize one club Rotarian and one Lambeth community resident for exemplifying the ideals of Rotary.
